Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was married at a relatively young age to Kasturba Kapadia. His marital life continued for more than sixty years. It was during this time when he undertook various experiments and became Mahatma Gandhi from Barrister Gandhi. Though Kasturba was not as experimental or as well-known as Gandhi, she was an important part of all of Gandhi’s experiments, including the vow of celibacy he made when he was an adult. Initially, she was reluctant to take part in these experiments, but with time, she listened to what Gandhi had to say and eventually, turned into his most dependable partner. However, Gandhi could not completely change her as per his beliefs, but he realised that there could not be any woman as Ba, who was both courageous and willing to change herself as Ba. This book is a collection of episodes from Mahatma Gandhi and Kasturba’s life together. It also brings into light the role and contribution of Kasturba in the transformative years of Gandhi as a great leader. The book offers an opportunity to understand them both in a better manner.
