colombian seashells from the caribbean sea by enrique yidi daccarett & victor sarmiento bossio 2011, l'informatore piceno, italy, hard cover in laminated boards, stitched binding, 384 pages + index including about 175 full page color plates and 3 black and white plates that are drawings of the cephalopods. the page size is about 8 by 11½ inches (about 20.5 by 29 cm) this is a very beautiful publication and it is a great contribution to our understanding the molluscan species that are found in the southern carribean sea. there are 1530 species of molluscs illustrated in the color plates and they are well defined sharp color plates. the text is somewhat minimal but contains the basic information that you would expect and it also has a section in the descriptive text that is a listing of synonyms for the various shells. listed in the index are also specimens whose information can be found in the text but not illustrated in this book. all in all this is an excellent work and it is one that should prove very useful to conchologists and malacologists alike.
